Some of my concept work comes from open-ended briefs.

For example, I was asked to come up with a messaging app that would fit into a suite of other apps provided by a security-conscious company. I created a persona based on interactions in the user forum, and by interviewing a busy remote worker that I know. From that, I addressed a user story that highlighted the need for privacy, but also a need to combat information overload when dealing with multiple projects. I proposed an encrypted ‘zero inbox’ app that would forget conversations at the end of a specified period, but gave you the option to save conversations or individual messages into a secure locker, which you could then tag and label.
